Dərəbas — Yelizavetpol quberniyasının Zəngəzur qəzasında, indi Sisyan rayonunda kənd.[2]

Tarixi

Rayon mərkəzindən 29 km məsafədə yerləşir. Qafqazın 5 verstlik xəritəsində Dərəbaz formasında qeyd edilmişdir[3]. Kəndin adı 844-cü ildən çəkilir[4].

Toponim Azərbaycan dilində «iki dağ arasında çuxur» mənası bildirən dərə sözünə[5] türk dillərində «dağın başı», «zirvə» mənasında işlənən bas sözünün[6] birləşməsindən əmələ gəlmişdir. Orotoponimdir. Quruluşca mürəkkəb toponimdir.

Ermənistan SSR Ali Soveti Rəyasət Heyətinin 10.IX.1946-cı il fərmanı ilə adı dəyişdirilib Darbas (Darvaza) qoyulmuşdur.

Əhalisi

Ermənilər buraya 1828-29-cu illərdə Türkiyədən köçürüllərək yerləşdirilmişdir. Ermənilərlə yanaşı kənddə 1831-ci ildə 164 nəfər, 1873 - cü ildə 515 nəfər, 1886-cı ildə 553 nəfər, 1897-ci ildə 730 nəfər, 1908-ci ildə 440 nəfər azərbaycanlı yaşamışdır[7].

1916-18-ci illərdə azərbaycanlılar qırğınlarla tarixi-etnik torpaqlarından qovularaq kəndə Türkiyədən köçürülən ermənilər yerləşdirilmişdir. İndi ermənilər yaşayır.
