Suku Jair

Suku Jair adalah sub-suku Awyu yang mendiami wilayah Papua Selatan, sekitar hilir Sungai Digul,[1] yaitu sekitar Sungai Edera dan Sungai Kia. Suku ini juga memiliki nama lain, yaitu Djair atau Dyair.[2] Jumlah populasi sekitar 3.000 jiwa (1984).[1]

Bahasa asli yang digunakan merupakan rumpun bahasa Awyu atau disebut juga Jair (Awyu Tenggara), yang terdiri dari tiga dialek: Sungai Edera, Sungai Kia Atas, dan Sungai Kia Bawah.
