Саванналық ормандар - ксерофильді маусымдық жапырақ тастайтын тропиктік ормандар. Құрғақ кезең 4-6 ай бойы болатын, жауын-шашынның мөлшері уақыттың қысқа мерзімінде түсетін аудандарға жатады. Оңтүстік Америкада, Африкада, Үндістан түбегінде кең тараған, сирек Аустралияда тараған. Бұршақ тұқымдасы, тікенекті суккулентті өркендері бар өсімдіктер, (кактустар, етті сүттігендер), шөлмекті ағаштар, (кейбір бомбаксты) таралған.[1]
