O monte da Guía é unha elevación situada no lugar da Guía, na parroquia viguesa de Teis, a carón da ría de Vigo.[1]

Situación

Acada 128 metros de altitude. É un dos parques maiores da cidade. Desde o alto do promontorio hai unha vista bastante completa da cidade de Vigo, así como da ría, as illas Cíes, a cara sur da península do Morrazo e a ponte de Rande.

O monte da Guía está conectado co centro da cidade mediante o autobús urbano (liña 17).[2]

Historia

Antigamente, as mulleres dos pescadores subían a este monte para facer fogueiras e así poder orientar os seus maridos de regreso ao peirao.[1]

Patrimonio

Está coroada por unha pequena ermida erixida na honra da Nosa Señora da Guía e do Sagrado Corazón de Xesús[3], obra do arquitecto Manuel Gómez Román.[1]

Ata o ano 2000 estivo situada na súa ladeira máis protexida, cara ao mar, a Escola de Transmisións da Armada, localización militar que tivo relevancia na segunda guerra mundial, ó ser usada como lugar de aprovisionamento por submarinos alemáns, o que se evidencia nalgunha película bélica. Naquela época fíxose un túnel baixo o monte para que o tren chegase ás instalacións militares para levar provisións. Tempo despois, ó ser innecesario o transporte ferroviario, o túnel foi usado como almacén militar.

Na súa aba, hai pequenas praias como a da Lagoa ou a da Punta, e un paseo a través dunha senda botánica sinalada.[2] Conta cunha carballeira e distintas especies ornamentais de interese, entre as que ademais dos carballos, destacan os piñeiros.
