Suuri Pyhäkalan Linnavuori on Etelä-Karjalassa Lappeenrannassa Simolan lähellä Melkkolan kylässä sijaitseva epävarma linnavuori.[1][2]

Linnavuori

Linnavuori sijaitsee Lappeenrannan kirkosta 15 kilometriä etelälounaaseen ja se on Suuri Pyhäkalan lounaisrannalla oleva korkea kalliomäki. Se on pieni, mutta jyrkkäseinäinen vuori. Mäen laki on kolmion muotoinen ja epätasainen. Mahdollisen linnan kaakkois-, etelä ja itäsivusta on jyrkänteiden suojaama, mutta länsipuolella rinteet ovat loivia. Siellä sijaitsee lyhyt kiviraunio, joka on tulkittu kivivallin jäännökseksi. Valli on neljä metriä leveä ja 0,5–1,0 metriä korkea. Se voisi kuitenkin olla myös lapinraunio.[1][2]

Tutkimukset

Kohteessa ei ole suoritettu arkeologisia kaivauksia. Se on tutkittu pintapuolisesti vuosina 1974 (Timo Miettinen), 1976 (Matti Huurre, Pekka Sarvas ja Jussi-Pekka Taavitsainen) sekä Aarni Erä-Esko ja 1998 (Timo Jussila).[1]
