Yuxarı Xatınarx — İrəvan quberniyasında Eçmiədzin qəzasında, əvvəl Zəngibasar rayonunda, sonralar isə Üçkilsə (Eçmiədzin) rayonunda kənd.

Tarixi

İrəvan quberniyasının Eçmiədzin qəzasında, indi Üçkilsə (Eçmiədzin) rayonunda kənd. Rayon mərkəzindən 6 km cənubda, Böyük Qarasu çayının yanında yerləşir. Qafqazın 5 verstlik xəritəsində[2] qeyd edilmişdir.

1670–80-ci illərdə Çuxur-Səd bəyləribəyi Səfixanın Qarasu çayından çəkdirdiyi arxın kənarında onun arvadı Xatın, kənd saldırmış və həmin kənd Xatınarx adlanmışdır[3][4]. Antropotoponimdir. Quruluşca mürəkkəb toponimdir.

Erm. SSR AS RH-nin 25.1.1978-ci il fərmanı ilə adı dəyişdirilib Qay qoyulmuşdur[5]

Əhalisi

Kənddə 1828-ci ilə kimi yalnız azərbaycanlılar yaşamışdır. Türkmənçay müqaviləsindən sonra 1828–29-cu illərdə buraya İranın Xoy və Salmas vilayətlərindən ermənilər köçürülüb yerləşdirilmişdir[6].

Kənddə ermənilərlə yanaşı 1831-ci ildə 208 nəfər azərbaycanlı yaşamışdır[7]. 1870-ci illərdə azərbaycanlılar sıxışdırılaraq tarixi-etnik torpaqlarından deportasiya olunmuşdur. İndi ermənilər yaşayır.
