The Star Sydney (sebelumnya bernama Star City Casino dan Sydney Harbour Casino) di Pyrmont, Sydney, adalah kasino terbesar kedua di Australia setelah pesaingnya, Crown Casino di Melbourne. Menghadap Darling Harbour, The Star memiliki dua lantai perjudian, delapan bar, tujuh restoran, 351 kamar hotel dan 130 apartemen khusus dan pribadi. The Star adalah satu-satunya kasino yang sah berdiri di Sydney. Operasi perjudian diawasi dan dikontrol oleh New South Wales Casino Control Authority dan ditetapkan sebagai satu-satunya kasino legal di New South Wales. Kasino ini pada tahun 2008 diberikan perpanjangan eksklusivitas dan lisensi selama 12 tahun.[1]

Pengembangan ulang

Pada tahun 2009, Tabcorp, pemilik Star City, mengumumkan program perbaikan dan ekspansi senilai A$475 juta dengan nama Project Star yang meliputi reorientasi kasino ke Pelabuhan Sydney, serta pembangunan pintu masuk baru yang "ikonik" dan area penurunan di sisi pelabuhan dari kasino. Proyek ini dimulai pada akhir tahun 2009 dan selesai pada akhir tahun 2012.[2] Berdasarkan CEO Echo Entertainment Group, Larry Mullin, biaya akhir dari program ini diperkirakan membengkak menjadi sekitar A$961 juta.[3] Pada tanggal 16 September 2011, kasino ini resmi dibuka kembali dengan nama "The Star".[4]
