Op de 110e vrouweneditie van het US Open in 1996 speelden de vrouwen in het dubbelspel van 26 augustus tot en met 8 september 1996.
De als tweede geplaatste titelverdedigsters Gigi Fernández en Natallja Zverava wonnen het toernooi. Zij versloegen in de finale het als eerste geplaatste koppel Jana Novotná en Arantxa Sánchez Vicario in drie sets. Het was hun 36e gezamenlijke titel. Fernández had daarnaast al dertig eerdere dubbelspeltitels met andere partners; Zverava 24.
