"מצפור ערד" הוא פסל מאת האמן הישראלי יגאל תומרקין המוצב בערד.

היסטוריה

בתחילת שנות ה-60, החל תומרקין להתעניין ביצירת פסלים סביבתיים אותם הוא ביקש לשלב במרחב הציבורי בערים שונות בארץ. במהלך שנות ה-60 וה-70 הצליח לממש עשרה פסלים סביבתיים, שאחד המוקדמים שבהם הוקם בקצה "טיילת מואב" שבערד. למימון הקמת הפסל גייס תומרקין תקציב ממשרד השיכון, שתיקצב בשעתו יצירות אמנות בערים ובשכונות חדשות שהקים, ושאר התקציב הושג הודות לתרומות שנתנו תושבי העיר. המצפור נחנך ב-1968. המצפור הופיע בעבודה מאוחרת שיצר תומרקין בשנת 1975 - דיוקן עצמי 1975, והורכבה מסדרה בת חמישה הדפסים, שכל אחד מהם הוקדש לפסל אחר שיצר לאורך השנים, ובהם גם מצפה ערד. ב-2013 הופיע על בול שהוציא השירות הבולאי לכבוד 50 שנה לערד, בעיצוב זינה וצביקה רויטמן. ב-2018 נערכה במרכז לאמנות עכשווית בערד התערוכה "יובל למצפור ערד" באצירת הדס קידר, ובה הוצגו עבודות שנעשו בהשראת הפסל. את התערוכה ליווה קטלוג ובו מאמרים מאת גדעון עפרת, הדס קידר, נוגה ראב"ד, ורד נבון וכן שיחה בנושא המצפור שערך מיכאל יעקובסון עם תומרקין בשנת 2006.

תיאור

הפסל ממוקם בקצה "טיילת מואב" היוצאת ממרכז העיר ערד ומסתיימת בקצה ההר ממנו נשקף נוף מדבר יהודה, ים המלח והרי מואב. הוא מורכב מפלטה מעוגלת המוטה על צידה, וממנה צומחים גופים שונים. הפסל כולו מורכב מבטון חשוף, שנצבע בשלב מאוחר ביוזמת תושב ערד בצבעי כחול לבן (באישור תומרקין). כלי נשק ששולבו בפסל נגנבו. שביל צר מקשר בין חלקו המרכזי של הפסל ובין חלק נוסף שיצר תומרקין, ומרוחק כ-200 מטרים אל תוך המדבר וכולל שולחן וסביבו מושבי בטון.
