ג'ון מייקל בישופ (אנגלית: John Michael Bishop‏; נולד ב-22 בפברואר 1936) הוא אימונולוג ומיקרוביולוג אמריקאי אשר זכה בפרס נובל לפיזיולוגיה או לרפואה בשנת 1989, יחד עם הרולד א. ורמוס, על גילוי המקור התאי של אונקוגנים רטרו וירוסיים.

בישופ נולד בפנסילבניה שבארצות הברית. הוא למד במכללת גטיסברג ומאוחר יותר באוניברסיטת הרווארד, שם קיבל בשנת 1962 תואר דוקטור לרפואה.

בישופ החל לעבוד במכון הלאומי לאלרגיה ומחלות זיהומיות. לאחר מכן הוא עבד במשך שנה במכון היינריך פטה בהמבורג שבגרמניה, בטרם הצטרף לסגל אוניברסיטת קליפורניה בסן פרנסיסקו בשנת 1968. מאז ועד היום נמנה בישופ על סגל האוניברסיטה, ואף שימש כקנצלר האוניברסיטה בשנים 1998–2009.

בישופ ידוע בעיקר בזכות עבודתו עם הרולד א. ורמוס ודומיניק סטהלין. עבודתם המשותפת הראתה ב-1976 כי אונקוגנים הם פרוטו-אונקוגנים מותמרים, ומצויים באדם וביצורים רבים נוספים. כאמור, עקב עבודה זו זכו בישופ וורמוס בפרס נובל לפיזיולוגיה או לרפואה בשנת 1989.

בשנת 1984 זכה בישופ בפרס אחוות אלפרד פ. סלואן. ב-2003 זכה במדליה הלאומית למדעים. באותה שנה פורסם ספרו: "איך לזכות בפרס נובל: חיים בלתי צפויים במדע". בשנת 2008 נבחר לכהן כחבר חוץ בחברה המלכותית.
