The cutter sprang a leak and was abandoned in the Atlantic Ocean 60 nautical miles (110 km) off Oporto , Portugal. Her five crew were rescued by the brigantine Rose (Flag unknown). Herthina was on a voyage from Helsingborg to Figueira da Foz , Portugal.[ 4]
