Jirat

Jirat atau kijing adalah bangunan berbentuk persegi panjang yang dibuat di atas permukaan tanah bekas liang kubur. Bentuk jirat dapat sangat sederhana berupa tumpukan tanah atau batu yang disusun rapi atau tumpukan balok kayu atau papan batu yang telah ditata dan dihiasi. Jirat juga dapat berupa dinding semen yang dibentuk dengan bentuk yang indah. Bentuk jirat tergantung kepada status sosial dan kondisi ekonomi orang yang dikuburkan. Jirat dengan bentuk yang megah merupakan makam orang kaya, para bangsawan dan tokoh masyarakat, sedangkan jirat masyarakat biasa hanya berupa tumpukan tanah atau dengan susunan batu saja.[1]
