Bâlteni este o comună în județul Gorj, Oltenia, România, formată din satele Bâlteni (reședința), Cocoreni, Moi, Peșteana-Jiu și Vlăduleni.

Comuna este formată din următoarele sate (date bazate pe recensământul populației din 2011):

Bâlteni este situată la o distanță de 228 km vest de București, la 18 km sud de Târgu Jiu și la 74 km nord-vest de Craiova.[2] Conform recensământului din 2002[3] comuna avea o populație totală de 7999 de oameni. Conform recensământului din 2011 comuna avea o populație totală de 7126 locuitori.[4]

Conform recensământului efectuat în 2021, populația comunei Bâlteni se ridică la 6.359 de locuitori, în scădere față de recensământul anterior din 2011, când fuseseră înregistrați 7.126 de locuitori.[4] Majoritatea locuitorilor sunt români (90,16%), iar pentru 9,18% nu se cunoaște apartenența etnică.[5] Din punct de vedere confesional, majoritatea locuitorilor sunt ortodocși (86,13%), cu o minoritate de penticostali (3,4%), iar pentru 9,64% nu se cunoaște apartenența confesională.[6]
