Inndelt i

Hoplia er en slekt av biller som hører til familien skarabider (Scarabaeidae). Slekten finnes ikke i Norge, men det er fire arter andre steder i Nord-Europa.

Utseende

Middelsstore (de nordeuropeiske artene 8–11 millimeter) biller, korte og kraftige, tilsynelatende hårløse biller. Kroppen er gjerne kledt med lyse skjell som gir dem et støvete utseende, noen ganger med en matt metallglans. Pronotum har jevnt rundede sider. Dekkvingene er litt avflatet oppå og dekker hele bakkroppen bortsett fra det siste leddet. Beina er forholdsvis lange.

Levevis

Larvene lever i jorda av røtter, utviklingen kan gjerne ta 2-3 år. De voksne billene besøker gjerne blomster, men aktivitetsperioden er kort.

Utbredelse

Slekten er utbredt i den palearktiske sone med tallrike arter i Asia. Det er også en god del arter fra andre økosoner som har blitt plassert i denne slekten, men det er uklart om de hører hjemme her.
