청량 음료

슈퍼마켓에서 흔히 찾을 수 있는 청량 음료들의 모습.

청량음료(淸凉飮料, 영어: soft drink)는 알코올이 들어있지 않은 음료 중 코코아, 차, 커피, 우유, 과즙 등을 제외한 다른 음료를 뜻한다.

역사

청량 음료의 기원은 과일 맛이 나는 음료의 개발과 관련이 있다. 튜더 잉글랜드 시기에 "워터 임페리얼"(water imperial)이 널리 섭취되었다. 이는 레몬 맛이 나는 달콤한 음료며, 주석영을 포함하고 있다. Manays Cryste는 장미수, 제비꽃, 시나몬 등으로 맛을 낸 달게 만든 코디얼이었다.[1]

다른 초기 형태의 청량 음료는 레모네이드로 꿀로 달게 만든 물과 레몬 주스로 이루어지지만 탄산물이 포함되어 있지 않다. 파리의 Compagnie des Limonadiers가 1676년 레모네이드 청량 음료를 독점 판매로 제공하였다. 업체들은 레모네이드 탱크를 운반하여 파리 사람들에게 여러 컵의 청량 음료를 나누어주었다.[2]
