תל (בערבית: تلّ) היא עיירה פלסטינית בנפת שכם בצפון יהודה ושומרון, הממוקמת כחמישה ק"מ דרומית-מערבית לשכם. על פי הלשכה הפלסטינית המרכזית לסטטיסטיקה (PCBS), אוכלוסיית העיר מנתה 5,162 תושבים בשנת 2017.[1] רוב עובדי העיירה עובדים בחקלאות, כאשר התאנים והזיתים הם מקור ההכנסה העיקרי.

היסטוריה

במסגרת השלטון העות'מאני

הכפר הופיע ברשומות המס העות'מאניות של שנת 1596. צוין כי הוא ממוקם כמספר שילוט רבים בסמוך לשכם. האוכלוסייה כללה 46 משקי בית – כולם מוסלמים. תושבי הכפר שילמו שיעור מס קבוע של 33.3% על מוצרים חקלאיים ובהם חיטה, שעורה, יבולי קיץ, עצי זית, עזים וכוורות, בסך הכל המס שנגבה מתל היה 5,100 אקצ'ות.[2]

בשנת 1882 הכפר תואר במפת הקרן לחקר ארץ ישראל כ"כפר בגודל בינוני על קרקע נמוכה, עם תלולית גבוהה בדרומו. יש בו כמספר בארות ועצים. הגבעות מצפון חשופות ולבנות, אך מדורגות עד לפסגתן."[3]

במסגרת המנדט הבריטי

במפקד האוכלוסין של 1945 האוכלוסייה כללה 1,060 מוסלמים,[4] ואילו שטח הקרקע הכולל היה 13,766 דונם.[5] מתוכם 1,056 דונם נועדו למטעים וקרקע להשקיה, 7,023 לדגנים[6] ואילו 55 דונם סווגו כשטחים בנויים.[7]

במסגרת השלטון הירדני

מפקד האוכלוסין הירדני בשנת 1961 מנה בכפר כ-1,539 תושבים.[8]

קרמיקות מהאימפריה הביזנטית נמצאו בכפר.[9]
