מֵזון קארה (בצרפתית: Maison Carrée; בתרגום חופשי: "הבית המרובע") הוא מבנה רומי עתיק בנים, דרום צרפת, שנחשב לאחד המקדשים הרומיים שהשתמרו בצורה הטובה ביותר מימי האימפריה הרומית.

בספטמבר 2023, הוכרז המבנה כאתר מורשת עולמית על ידי אונסק"ו.[1]

היסטוריה

המקדש נבנה במקור כהיכל לאלים, על ידי מרקוס ויפסניוס אגריפה, איש צבא רומאי. בנייתו החלה ככל הנראה בשנת 19 לפני הספירה ונסתיימה בשנת 16 לפני הספירה, ועל פי הכיתוב המופיע עליו הוא הוקדש לבניו של אגריפה, גאיוס ולוקיוס, שאומצו על ידי אוגוסטוס לאחר מותו. לאחר נפילתה של האימפריה הרומית שימש המקדש בגלגוליו השונים ככנסייה, בית פרטי, אורווה, בית עירייה והמשיך להשתנות עד 1823, בה הפך למוזיאון. אף על פי ששונה רבות במהלך השנים, המזון קארה שונה רק במעט מכפי שנראה בסוף המאה הראשונה לפני הספירה.

המזון קארה הוא דוגמה לאדריכלות הוויטרובית. המקדש מוקף עמודים קורינתיים התומכים בגג המבנה וגרם מדרגות מוביל לשער הכניסה. גובהו של המקדש כ-17 מטרים, אורכו כ-26 מטרים ורוחבו כ-15 מטרים.

כיום משמש המזון קארה כמוזיאון, ומוצגות בו תערוכות מתחלפות. במקום מוקרן סרט שמציג את ההיסטוריה של העיר נים.
