Papirus Jarf

Papirus Jarf (juga dikenal sebagai Buku Harian Merer) adalah nama untuk buku harian kapal papirus yang ditulis lebih dari 4.500 tahun yang lalu oleh Merer, seorang pejabat tingkat menengah dengan gelar inspektur (sHD). Mereka adalah papirus tertua yang diketahui dengan teks, berasal dari tahun ke-XXVII pemerintahan Firaun Khufu selama Dinasti ke-IV.[1][2]

Teks yang ditulis dengan hieroglif (Aksara Hieratik), sebagian besar terdiri dari daftar kegiatan sehari-hari Merer dan krunya. Bagian yang paling terpelihara dengan baik (Papirus Jarf A dan B) mendokumentasikan pengangkutan blok gamping putih dari tambang Tura ke Giza dengan perahu.

Dimakamkan di depan gua buatan yang berfungsi untuk menyimpan perahu di Wadi al-Jarf di pantai Laut Merah, papirus ditemukan dan digali pada 2013 oleh misi Prancis di bawah pimpinan arkeolog Pierre Tallet dari Universitas Paris-Sorbonne dan Gregory Marouard.[3][4][5][6]

Arkeolog Mesir Zahi Hawass menggambarkan Buku Harian Merer sebagai “penemuan terbesar di Mesir pada abad ke-XXI.”[1] Bagian dari papirus dipamerkan di Museum Mesir, Kairo.[7]
