Medan Maimun adalah salah satu dari 21 kecamatan di Kota Medan, Provinsi Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. Kecamatan Medan Maimun berbatasan dengan Medan Polonia di sebelah barat, Medan Kota di sebelah timur, Medan Johor dan Medan Amplas di sebelah selatan, dan Medan Petisah dan Medan Barat di sebelah utara. Istana peninggalan Kesultanan Deli yang terkenal, Istana Maimun, terletak di kecamatan ini.

Demografi

Pada tahun 2020, kecamatan Medan Maimun mempunyai penduduk sebesar 49.231 jiwa. Luasnya adalah 2,98 km² dan kepadatan penduduknya adalah 16.520 jiwa/km².[1] Sementara pada tahun 2021, jumlah penduduk Medan Maimun sebanyak 52.247 jiwa.[2]

Etnis

Sebagai salah satu kecamatan di Kota Medan, suku penduduk di kecamatan ini cukup beragam. Suku Melayu Deli, Tionghoa, Jawa dan Batak merupakan suku yang paling banyak di kecamatan ini. Selain itu, ada juga suku lain seperti Minang, Sunda, India, Nias, Pesisir, Bugis dan lainnya.

Agama

Berdasarkan data Kementerian Dalam Negeri tahun 2021, penduduk kecamatan Medan Maimun sangat beragam dalam agama yang dianut. Adapaun persentasi penduduk kecamatan Medan Maimun berdasarkan agama yang dianut ialah, yang memeluk agama Islam sebanyak 62,17%, pemeluk agama Buddha umumnya keturuan Tionghoa yakni 28,93%. Kemudian Kristen sebanyak 7,79% dimana Protestan 6,30% dan Katolik 1,49% dan sebagian lainnya adalah Hindu 1,10% dan Konghucu 0,01%.[2][3] Sementara untuk rumah ibadah, terdapat 21 masjid, 5 vihara dan 2 gereja.[4]
