Dr. Akbar Faizal, M.Si. (lahir 21 Desember 1968) adalah mantan wartawan dan politikus Indonesia. Ia menjabat sebagai Anggota DPR-RI dari 2009–2013 dan 2014–2019 mewakili daerah pemilihan Sulawesi Selatan II. Saat ini ia menjadi Direktur Eksekutif Nagara Institute (lembaga riset politik di Indonesia).[3]

Karier

Awal mula perjalanan politik Akbar Faizal adalah saat ia menjadi salah satu pendiri Partai Demokrat. Dari 2003 hingga 2007 Akbar Faizal menjadi ketua umum Pemuda Partai Demokrat.

Setelah dipinang oleh Partai Hanura, ia dipercayakan sebagai wakil rakyat dari daerah pemilihan Sulawesi Selatan II. Ia menduduki Komisi V DPR RI. Saat berada di DPR, Akbar Faizar menjadi salah satu anggota Panitia Khusus Hak Angket Bank Century.

Setelah keluar dari Partai Hanura, Akbar Faizal menjadi salah satu anggota Partai NasDem. Ia pernah menjabat sebagai Penanggung Jawab Kampanye Bappilu Partai NasDem Ia juga menjadi Koordinator Wilayah se-Sulawesi, dan juga Ketua Bidang Politik dan Pemerintahan DPP Partai NasDem.[4]

Kehidupan pribadi

Akbar Faizal menikah dengan Andi Syamsartika Virawati, dan dikaruniai tiga orang anak.[4]
