รอยแยกพีโทรทิมพานิค (petrotympanic fissure) เป็นรอยแยกที่อยู่ในกระดูกขมับ (temporal bone) [1] ซึ่งวิ่งจากข้อต่อขากรรไกร (temporomandibular joint) ไปยังโพรงหูส่วนกลาง (tympanic cavity) [2]

แอ่งข้อต่อขากรรไกร (mandibular fossa) เป็นแอ่งข้อต่อที่ถูกล้อมรอบทางด้านหน้าด้วยปุ่มหน้าแอ่งข้อต่อขากรรไกร (articular tubercle) และทางด้านหลังโดยส่วนทิมพานิคของกระดูกขมับ (tympanic part) ซึ่งเป็นโครงสร้างที่แยกแอ่งข้อต่อขากรรไกรออกจากปากรูหู (external acoustic meatus) แอ่งข้อต่อขากรรไกรแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ส่วนโดยรอยแยกเล็กๆ เรียกว่า รอยแยกพีโทรทิมพานิค (petrotympanic fissure)

รอยแยกนี้เปิดออกทางด้านบนและด้านหน้าของวงแหวนกระดูกซึ่งเป็นที่ยึดเกาะของเยื่อแก้วหู ซึ่งเกิดเป็นช่องยาวประมาณ 2 ซม. มันฝังอยู่ในส่วนยื่นด้านหน้าและเอ็นด้านหน้าของกระดูกค้อน (malleus) และทอดผ่านแขนงแอนทีเรียร์ทิมพานิคของหลอดเลือดแดงอินเทอร์นัลแมกซิลลารี (internal maxillary artery)

ชื่อของรอยแยกนี้

รอยแยกพีโทรทิมพานิคเรียกกันอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า "รอยแยกกลาเซอเรียน" (Glaserian fissure) ตั้งชื่อตามโยฮันน์ กลาเซอร์[3]
