O Marriott World Trade Center foi um hotel de luxo de classificação 4 diamantes, de 22 andares[1] que possuía 825 quartos. Foi aberto em 1981 junto com o Vista Hotel e se localizava no conjunto 3 do World Trade Center na cidade de Nova Iorque. O Vista Hotel foi o primeiro a abrir na Baixa Manhattan em 1836.[2] O edifício foi projetado pela Skidmore, Owings and Merrill e originalmente operado pelo Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Ele foi vendido em 1995 para a Host Marriott Corporation após os governadores George Pataki de Nova Iorque e Christine Todd Whitman de Nova Jérsia pressionarem o Port Authority a vender suas ações menos rentáveis.

O hotel foi conectado com as Torres Norte e Sul, e muitos passaram por ele para visitar as Torres Gêmeas. O hotel teve alguns estabelecimentos de destaque, incluindo a Greenhouse Cafe, Tall Ships Bar & Grill, uma loja chamada Times Square Brindes, o Restaurante Russia House e um cabeleireiro chamado Olga's. O hotel tinha 2400 m² de área e recebeu a classificação quatro diamantes da American Automobile Association.[3]

O edifício foi destruído nos ataques de 11 de setembro de 2001, quando a Torre Sul do World Trade Center colapsou e seus destroços o esmagaram.

Atentado de 1993

No dia 26 de fevereiro de 1993, o hotel foi seriamente danificado como resultado do atentado de 1993. Terroristas carregaram uma camionete Ryder, com 682 quilogramas de explosivos e a estacionaram na garagem da torre norte. Às 12:18 da tarde, houve a explosão, que destruiu e danificou os subníveis do complexo do World Trade Center. Após extensivos reparos, o hotel foi reaberto em novembro de 1994.
