자연계에는 존재하는 루비듐의 동위 원소는 2종이며 85Rb와 87Rb이 존재하고 있다. 여기서 85Rb는 안정 동위 원소이며, 87Rb는 반감기가 492억 3천만년의 긴 반감기를 가진 방사성 동위 원소이다.
루비듐-87은 스트론튬-87로 붕괴하며, 루비듐-스트론튬 연대 측정에 이용된다.
