地理

名古屋市瑞穂区南西部に位置する[2]。東は塩入町、西は熱田区に接する[2]。

歴史

地名の由来

熱田東町の字桃ノ木による[3]。当地に桃の木が密生していたことによるという[3]。

沿革

  • 1945年（昭和20年）9月26日 - 瑞穂区熱田東町字東起・文斉・桃ノ木および瑞穂町字塩田の各一部により、同区桃園町として成立[1]。
  • 1970年（昭和45年）10月21日 - 一部が新開町に編入される[4]。
  • 1987年（昭和62年）11月24日 - 瑞穂区熱田東町字文斉・呼続・桃ノ木および花表町3丁目の各一部を編入し、住居表示を実施[4]。同時に一部が新開町・塩入町に編入される[3]。
  • 1990年（平成2年）11月5日 - 熱田東町の一部を編入[5]。また、一部が内浜町に編入される[3]。
