Útbreiðsla

Rifjasmári er útbreiddur í Ölpunum yfir Dauphiné upp til Tyrol. Hann vex einnig í spænsku fjöllunum, í Pírenneafjöllum og Appenníafjöllum upp í 2400 metra hæð.[6]
