Margaret Gowing

Margaret Mary Gowing (26 April 1921 - 7 November 1998) adalah sejarawan Inggris. Ia menulis beberapa jilid History of the Second World War, tetapi ia lebih dikenal akan buku-bukunya (yang ditugaskan pembuatannya oleh Badan Energi Atom Britania Raya) yang membahas sejarah awal program senjata nuklir Britania Raya: Britain and Atomic Energy 1939–1945, terbit tahun 1964, dan dua jilid Independence and Deterrence: Britain and Atomic Energy 1945–52, terbit tahun 1974.

Margaret lahir dengan nama belakang Elliott lahir pada tanggal 26 April 1921 di Kensington, London. Ia adalah anak bungsu dari tiga bersaudara. Ayahnya adalah Ronald Elliott, seorang insinyur motor, dan ibunya, Mabel née Donaldson, bekerja sebagai guru sekolah.[1] Keluarganya miski; ayahnya meninggal akibat TBC dan sebelumnya sering menganggur, sementara ibunya dilarang bekerja sebagai guru sekolah setelah ia menikah.[2]
