Hubungan Chili dengan Republik Rakyat Tiongkok resmi dimulai pada 15 Desember 1970.[1]

Prakarsa

Setelah Salvador Allende terpilih sebagai Presiden Chili, ia memulai hubungan antara Chili dan Republik Rakyat Tiongkok pada 15 Desember 1970. Chili menjadi negara Amerika Selatan pertama yang mengakui pemerintahan Tiongkok Daratan.[2][3] Setelah kudeta Chili 1973 yang mengakhiri pemerintahan Allende, Tiongkok menjadi salah satu dari hanya dua negara Komunis (yang lainnya adalah Rumania)[4] yang tak memutus hubungan dengan rezim baru Augusto Pinochet, karena dukungan berkelanjutan Pinochet terhadap Kebijakan Satu Tiongkok.[5]
