A Lázár-kormány magyarországi minisztertanácsként az ország kormánya volt 1975. május 15. és 1987. június 25. között. A cserearány-romlással és a nemzetközi gazdasági változásokkal (részben az új gazdasági mechanizmus visszafordítása miatt) képtelen volt megbirkózni. A jóléti államot nyugatról felvett hitelekből finanszírozták, ezzel nagyban növelve Magyarország államadósságát. A kormány ideje alatt csatlakozott az ország a Nemzetközi Valutaalaphoz, hogy újabb hitelekhez férjen hozzá.[1]
