נחלת צדוק היא שכונה קטנה[1] בירושלים, הממוקמת בדרום גוש הנחלאות בין שכונת שערי חסד לשכונת נחלת אחים. גבולה הדרומי הוא רחוב הגר״א, וגבולה הצפוני רחוב ישראלס. רחובה הראשי הוא רחוב נחלת צדוק.

היסטוריה

השכונה נוסדה בשנת 1906 ביוזמת חברת יק"א ומנהלה בירושלים אברהם אלברט ענתבי, ונבנתה החל מ-1908 בעזרת חברת כי"ח של יהדות צרפת והברון רוטשילד. השכונה נקראה על שם הרב צדוק כהן, הרב הראשי של יהדות צרפת ומראשי תנועת חיבת ציון, שהלך לעולמו חודשים ספורים טרם ייסוד השכונה.

התוכנית המקורית הייתה להקים 40 בתים בשכונה עבור פועלים ובעלי מלאכה עניים מעובדי מוסדות כי"ח, על שטח של 30,000 אמות מרובעות. עד שנת 1911 נבנו 22 בתים בשכונה. את יתרת החלקות שלא נמכרו למשתכנים מכרה יק"א לאחר שנים אחדות לאגודת נווה בצלאל, שהקימה בסמוך שכונה שנועדה לאמנים ואנשי בצלאל.

הבתים נבנו כבתים טוריים בני שני חדרים כל אחד, כשבחזית כל בית חצר לגידול עופות או לנוי. בחצר גם היו המטבח והשירותים. משתכני נחלת צדוק כללו מורים, פקידים, בעלי מלאכה וסוחרים, שהגיעו מהשכונות החדשות שמחוץ לעיר העתיקה, ובניגוד לתוכנית המקורית, היו אמידים יחסית. נחלת צדוק התפתחה כשכונה חילונית, בשכנות צמודה לשערי חסד הסמוכה שהייתה חרדית ומתיישביה היו אנשי היישוב הישן.

נחלת צדוק גדלה בתקופת המנדט, ובמפקד אוכלוסין בשנת 1939 נמנו בה 265 תושבים. החל מ-1939 התאחדו ועדי השכונות נחלת צדוק ונווה בצלאל, כדי להתמודד במשותף עם קשיים ביטחוניים ומנהליים, והפכו בפועל לשכונה אחת. בעת מאורעות מלחמת העצמאות עמדו נחלת צדוק ושערי חסד בקו החזית מול התקפות מהכפר שייח' באדר הסמוך. הבית המערבי ביותר בנחלת צדוק שימש כעמדה של ההגנה.

לקראת סוף המאה ה-20 חל בשכונה תהליך התחרדות[2]. בדומה לשערי חסד הסמוכה, נרכשו נכסים בנחלת צדוק בידי עולים חרדים מארצות הרווחה, והבתים שופצו והורחבו. כיום אופי השכונה הוא של שכונת רווחה חרדית.
