ביוגרפיה

ג'יימס, רוזן וסקס נולד ב-17 בדצמבר 2007 בבית החולים פרימלי פארק (אנ') שבסארי[1]. השם ג'יימס אלכסנדר פיליפ תיאו הוכרז ב-21 בדצמבר[2].

הוא הוטבל ב-19 באפריל 2008 בקפלה הפרטית של טירת וינדזור, בידי דייוויד קונר, דיקן וינדזור. סנדקיו היו אלאסטיר ברוס מקריוניץ', דאנקן בוליוונט, תומאס היל, דניז פולטון וז'ניה ארווין[3][4]. הוא הולבש בהעתק חדש של שמלת ההטבלה המלכותית (אנ'), שנלבשה במקור על ידי ויקטוריה, בתה הבכורה של המלכה ויקטוריה, בשנת 1840. ההעתק נלבש ברוב ההטבלות המלכותיות לאחר מכן, כאשר השמלה המקורית עברה תהליך שימור[3].

עד שנת 2020 הוא למד בבית הספר איגל האוס (אנ'), בית ספר מעורב הממוקם סמוך לסנדהרסט שבברקשייר[5][6]. לאחר מכן עבר ללמוד בקולג' רדלי (אנ') שבאוקספורדשייר[7].

ג'יימס מתגורר יחד עם הוריו ואחותו בפארק באגשוט, סארי[5].

הופעות רשמיות

באפריל 2015 ג'יימס ואחותו, ליידי לואיז, השתתפו בסיור הראשון שלהם מעבר לים, בליווי הוריהם לדרום אפריקה[8]. בספטמבר 2020 ג'יימס השתתף יחד עם משפחתו בפרויקט לניקוי חופים בחוף סאות'סי שבהמפשייר, בתמיכת החברה לשימור ימי (אנ')[9][10].

במרץ 2022 ג'יימס השתתף בטקס האזכרה של הנסיך פיליפ, דוכס אדינבורו[11]. ביוני 2022 השתתף באירועי יובל הפלטינה למלכות אליזבת השנייה, ביניהם טקס ההודיה הלאומי (אנ')[12][13] ומסיבת הפלטינה בארמון (אנ')[14].

ב-17 בספטמבר 2022, במהלך תקופת האבל הרשמית בעקבות מותה של אליזבת השנייה, הצטרף ג'יימס לאחותו ולששת בני דודיו במשמר כבוד בן 15 דקות סביב ארונה של המלכה, בעת הצבתו בארמון וסטמינסטר, והיה לאדם הצעיר ביותר ששמר על הארון[15][16][17]. בנוסף, נכח ג'יימס יחד עם שאר בני משפחתו בתהלוכת הארון אל עבר ארמון וסטמינסטר[18], במשמר הכבוד של ילדי המלכה[19], וכן בטקסים שהתקיימו ביום ההלוויה[20][21][22].

ב-6 במאי 2023 נכח ג'יימס בטקס ההכתרה של דודו, צ'ארלס השלישי, במנזר וסטמינסטר יחד עם בני משפחתו ושאר משפחת המלוכה. הוא לקח חלק בתהלוכה אל עבר ארמון בקינגהאם, והופיע על מרפסת הארמון יחד עם בני משפחת המלוכה העובדים[23][24]. ב-7 במאי נכח ג'יימס בקונצרט ההכתרה (אנ') שהתקיים בטירת וינדזור[25].

תוארי כבוד

תארים

תוארו של ג'יימס עד מרץ 2023 היה ויקונט סוורן. התואר "ויקונט סוורן" נועד להכיר בשורשיו הוולשים של ג'יימס מצד אמו[26]: נהר הסוורן שמוצאו בוויילס. מכתב הרשאה שהונפק בשנת 1917 מקצה מעמד נסיכותי וכותרת "הוד מלכותו" (אנ') לכל ילד שנולד לבנו של מונרך[27]. כשהוריו נישאו, ארמון בקינגהאם הכריז כי ילדיהם יוכרו כילדיו של רוזן, ולא בתור נסיך או נסיכה[28]. על כן, הודעות רשמיות התייחסו אליו כאל ויקונט סוורן[29]. בשנת 2020 הצהירה רוזנת וסקס כי ג'יימס ואחותו שמרו על תאריהם המלכותיים, ויוכלו לבחור להשתמש בהם כאשר יגיעו לגיל 18[30]. לדבריה, השניים לא צפויים לעבוד בתפקיד רשמי במשפחת המלוכה כאשר יגדלו, לכן הוחלט כי הם יגדלו ללא התארים, מתוך הבנה שהם "ככל הנראה יצטרכו לעבוד למחייתם"[31].
