Ramón Antonio Artola Larrañaga, nado en Tolosa o 31 de agosto de 1831 e finado en Donostia o 20 de agosto de 1906, foi un poeta vasco.

Traxectoria

Fillo de María Antonia Larrañaga Ganuza e de Antonio Artola Etxeberria, era o fillo máis novo dos cinco que tivo a parella e recibiu, como era costume na época, o nome dun irmán anterior que nacera morto. Casou a finais de 1858 con Manuela Elizetxea Altzelai, natural de Donostia, e o matrimonio instalouse na localidade natal dela. Tiveron dous fillos Rosario e Pepe, tamén poetas. Traballou como fontaneiro e pintor[1]. Socio fundador en 1870 da Unión Artesana presidiuna en 1884[2]. Foi voluntario liberal durante a terceira guerra carlista e defendeu a cidade do asedio carlista a Donostia, coincidindo entre outros con Bilintx ou Serafin Baroja.

Os seus primeiros poemas publicounos no Cancionero Vasco de José Manterola e logo continuou a publicar ao longo da súa vida na prensa, principalmente en Euskal-Erria. Tamén escribiu moitas letras de cancións para as comparsas donostiarras.

Xa postumamente publicouse o seu primeiro, foi en 1909 Gipuzkoa-ko Probintziaren kondaira laster bat Españiako beste zenbait pasarterekin. Itz neurtuzko moldaeran e en 1961 Antonio Zavala publicou unha selección da súa obra, Sagardoaren graziya ta beste bertso asko. Nos dous volumes de Ipuiak edo kontutxoak recolléronse os seus contos e fábulas en verso[3].
