O flamengo occidental é un dialecto do neerlandés falado no oeste de Bélxica e nas áreas adxacentes dos Países Baixos e Francia.[2] O flamengo occidental é falado por preto dun millón de persoas na provincia belga de Flandres Occidental, e por máis de 120 000 no distrito costeiro neerlandés de Flandres zelandés (e outros 220 000 se se contan os falantes de zelandés), e unhas 10 000 na parte norte do departamento francés de Norte. Algunhas das principais cidades onde se fala o flamengo occidental son Bruxas, Courtrai, Ostend, Roeselare e Ieper. O dialecto do resto da provincia neerlandesa de Zelandia, o zelandés, é incluído a miúdo como parte do flamengo occidental.
