Le coup de l'Espagnol est une combinaison standard du jeu de dames et thématique de la partie classique[1] qui porte ce nom depuis 1955[2],[3].

Les Blancs débordent et gagnent

Comme dans le coup de l'escargot, le mécanisme exploite souvent le pion de bande adverse 26 et utilise la colonne de pionnage 37-42-48 pour réaliser la rafle 42x11[4].

À la différence du coup de l'escargot, cette rafle n'est pas décisive car l'adversaire reprend par (6x17).

Bien que les deux combinaisons reçoivent parfois le même nom[5],[6], la caractéristique du coup de l'Espagnol, selon plusieurs auteurs, est d'inclure ou de se terminer par le coup droit 33x11[7],[8].

Cette rafle additionnelle nécessite la colonne 28-33-39 ainsi qu'un pion noir à 19[9]. Elle permet généralement de déborder. À noter que l'ordre des mouvements peut souvent être interverti. Voir animation.
