José Rubén Zamora Marroquín (Guatemala, 1956ko abuztuaren 19a) ingeniari industriala da, enpresaburua, kazetaria eta Guatemalako hiru egunkariren sortzailea: Siglo 21 (1990), El Periódico (1996) eta Nuestro Diario (1998).[1]

José Rubén Zamora Guatemalako gobernu desberdinen ustelkeria salatu du kazetaritzaren bitartez, adibide Otto Pérez Molina, Jimmy Morales eta Alejandro Giammattei-ren gehiegikeriak azaleratzeko argitaratu dituen artikuluak.[2] Erdialdeko Amerikako kazetari independente nagusienetakotzat jotzen da Zamora.

Biografia

2003an, 23 gizon armatu bere etxean sartu ziren eta bera eta bere senideak bahitu eta mehatxatu zituzten Alfonso Portillo Guatemalako presidentearen aurkako zenbait argitalpen idatzi zituelako egunkariak. 2021eko urrian, Zamorak Guatemalako Fiskal Nagusiak, Consuelo Porras, bere kontrako kasu bat eraikitzen ari zela salatu zuen.[7] Urte berean, AECID eta EFE agentziak sortutako Espainiako Erregearen Nazioarteko Kazetaritza Sarietako bat jaso zuen El Periodico-ren izenean.[8]

2022ko uztailaren 29an, atxilotua izan zen, Rafael Curruchiche fiskalaren aginduz. Curruchiche ustelkeria kasuen ikerkekta oztopatzen duela salatu du Ameriketako Estatu Batuak. Hainbat elkarte, Guatemalako Kazetarien Elkartea adibide, prentsa askatasunaren aurkako neurria dela salatu dute, Polizia kazetariaren etxea eta egunkariaren bulegora miatzera sartu bazen ere, dirua garbitzeaz eta informazioaren salerosketa egozten diote. Zamorarekin batera, Samari Gómez Díaz atxilotu dute, uztez, sekretupeko informazia zabaltzeagatik.[9][10] Atxilotuak gose greba hasiko duela jakinarazi eta bere bizitzaren kontrako erasoak jaso ditzakeelaren beldur dela adierazi du.[11]

Guatemalako Kazetarien Elkartearen aburuz, Alejandro Giammattei-ren gobernua hasi zenetik prentsa askatasunaren aurkako 350 eraso eman dira Guatemalan. Kazetarien Behatokiak ere ardura azaldu du eta giza eskubideen urraketa areagotzen ari dela salatu du.[12]

2023ko apirilaren 20an, Zamoraren abokatuak ziren Juan Francisco Solórzano Foppa eta Justino Brito Torres atxilotuak izan ziren ustez justizia jarduera oztopatu, testigu faltsuak aurkeztu eta diru-garbiketa leporatuta.[13][14] Zamora defendatu izan duten abokatuak atxilotuak izan dira, Foppa hirugarrena izanik. Martxoan Foppak Zamoraren defentsa utzi zuen eta kasua defendatu nahi zuen oro kriminalizatua izango zela salatu zuen ere.[15]
