Sirje Olesk

Sirje Olesk Kirjanike Liidu üldkogul Tartus 23. märtsil 2012

Sirje Olesk (neiupõlvenimega Sirje Mägar; sündinud 24. augustil 1954 Kohtla-Järvel) on eesti kirjandusteadlane ja -kriitik.

Lapsepõlv ja haridus

Sirje Olesk elas lapsepõlves Jõhvi äärelinnas Proletariaadi tänavas (praegune Pae tänav). Rajooni elu piiras rohkelt põlevkivikaevandused. Tema isa oli pärit Toilast. 1961. aastal algas tema koolitee ja 1972. aastal see lõppes Adolf Kesleri nimelises Kohtla-Järve keskkoolis.[1]

Olesk õppis aastatel 1972–1977 Tartu Riiklikus Ülikoolis eesti keelt ja kirjandust ning lõpetas selle cum laude. Doktorikraadi sai 1989. aastal Tartu Ülikoolis.

Töö

Pärast ülikooli töötas Tallinna 24. Keskkooli eesti keele ja kirjanduse õpetajana 1980. aastani, kuna läks Tartusse Eesti Kirjandusmuuseumi teadussekretäriks. Olesk sai teadusosakonna juhatajaks 1988. aastal ja sai doktorikraadi 1989. aastal uurimusega "Luuleteoreetilise mõtte arengust Eestis 1878–1918" juhendaja Harald Peebu valve all. 1990. aastast töötas Eesti Kirjandusmuuseumi teadusdirektorina.

Alates 2002. aastast on Olesk olnud Kirjandusmuuseumi vanemteadur, aga aastatel 2008–2010 ja uuesti aastatel 2015–2019 ta töötas Helsingi Ülikooli eesti kultuuri külalislektorina.

Teadustöö

Oleski uurimusteemad on olnud Aino Kallas, nõukogude aja eesti kirjandus, luule ning Eesti ja Soome vahelised suhted. Alates 1998. aastast Olesk on olnud Soome Kirjanduse Seltsi välisliige ja 2006. aastal Soomluse Liidu (Suomalaisuuden liitto) Viro-Säätiö ("Eesti-Fond") andis talle Aino Kallase nimelise auhinna.[2][3]
