Vojkovice is located about 7 kilometres (4 mi) east of Frýdek-Místek and 18 km (11 mi) southeast of Ostrava. It lies in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia, in the Moravian-Silesian Foothills. The highest point is at 360 m (1,180 ft) above sea level. The Lučina River flows through the municipality.
History
Vojkovice was founded around 1500, certainly before 1520. The first written mention is from 1573, when it was part of Frýdekstate country. The inhabitants subsisted mainly on weaving, agriculture, and hauling merchant carts up the hills.[2]
