Truman "Tru" Valentino (born December 8, 1988) is an American actor. He is known for playing Aaron Thorsen in The Rookie,^[2] Cuphead in The Cuphead Show!,^[3] Adam in Psychonauts 2, and Jack in the 2022 Crunchyroll anime series FreakAngels.

Early life

Tru Valentino was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on December 8, 1988, to two African-American war veterans who were stationed in the country. He moved with them to Waynesville, Missouri in the United States when he was an infant, where he graduated from Waynesville High School.^[1] Valentino earned a degree for acting when he graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Career

He is a member of the Sunday Company at the Groundlings Theatre and School of Los Angeles, and has been featured as a guest in many of their spectacles, including the improvisation show Cookin' With Gas and the sketch live-show Sunday Night Fever.^[1] Valentino joined the fourth season of the ABC series, The Rookie, in a recurring role. In July 2022, he became a series regular starting in the show's fifth season.^[4] In August 2024, Valentino confirmed that he would not be in seventh season and was leaving the show.^[5] In 2023, he voiced Cyborg in the direct-to-video film, Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen.^[6]
