Mecaneg (Groeg μηχανική) yw'r rhan honno o wyddoniaeth sy'n ymwneud â gwrthrychau pan fo grym yn cael ei rhoi arnynt ac effaith y gwrthrychau hyn ar yr hyn sydd o'u cwmpas (eu hamgylchedd).

Ceir tarddiad y ddisgyblaeth hon yng Ngroeg yr Henfyd: yn sgwennu Aristotle ac Archimedes[1][2][3]. Yn y cyfnod modern, bu Omar Khayyam, Galileo, Johannes Kepler, ac Isaac Newton yn brysur yn gosod y seiliau gwyddonol i'r hyn a ddisgrifir heddiw fel "mecaneg glasurol". Dyma gangen o 'ffiseg glasurol' sy'n delio gyda gronynnau sefydlog neu symudol, ac sy'n symud gyda buanedd llawer llai na chyflymder golau. Gellir diffinio Mecaneg, felly, fel y gangen o wyddoniaeth sy'n ymwneud â symudiad ac effaith grymoedd ar wrthrychau.
