এম এ জব্বার (৩০ নভেম্বর ১৯৩২-১৮ আগস্ট ২০২০)[১] জাতীয় পার্টির রাজনীতিবিদ এবং পিরোজপুর-৩ ও পিরোজপুর-৪ আসনের সাবেক জাতীয় সংসদ সদস্য।[২][৩] তাকে ১৯৭১ সালে বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় সংঘটিত মানবতা বিরোধী অপরাধ ও গণহত্যার বিরুদ্ধে চারটি অভিযোগে দোষী সাব্যস্ত করে ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০১৫ সালে আমৃত্যু কারাদণ্ড দেওয়া হয়েছিল।[১][৪]

জন্ম ও প্রাথমিক জীবন

এম এ জব্বার ৩০ নভেম্বর ১৯৩২ সালে পিরোজপুর জেলায় জন্মগ্রহণ করেন।[১] তিনি ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন।

রাজনৈতিক ও কর্মজীবন

ইঞ্জিনিয়ার আবদুল জব্বার মুসলিম লীগের রাজনীতিতে যুক্ত ছিলেন। [১] তিনি ১৯৬৪ সালে পূর্ব পাকিস্তান প্রাদেশিক পরিষদের এমপিএ নির্বাচিত হয়েছিলেন।[১] এরশাদ সরকার গঠন করলে তিনি জাতীয় পার্টিতে যোগদিয়ে জাতীয় পার্টির কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান ছিলেন।[৫]

তিনি পিরোজপুর-৪ আসন থেকে ১৯৮৬ সালের তৃতীয় ও পিরোজপুর-৩ ও আসন থেকে ১৯৮৮ সালের চতুর্থ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে সংসদ সদস্য নির্বাচিত হয়েছিলেন।[২][৩]

যুদ্ধাপরাধ ও অন্যান্য অভিযোগ

আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ ট্রাইব্যুনাল প্রসিকিউশন অনুসারে, জব্বার মঠবাড়িয়া শান্তি (পিস) কমিটির চেয়ারম্যানের দায়িত্ব পালনকালে রাজাকার বাহিনী গঠনে তিনি মুখ্য ভূমিকা পালন করেছিলেন এবং যুদ্ধাপরাধ করেছিলেন। [৬] ১৯৭১ সালে পিরোজপুরে হত্যা, গণহত্যা, লুটপাট ও জোরপূর্বক ধর্মান্তরের জন্য তারা তার বিরুদ্ধে পাঁচটি অভিযোগ আনে:[৭]

  • মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় মঠবাড়িয়ার ফুলঝুরিতে দুজন মুক্তিযোদ্ধা হত্যা। পিরোজপুরের নাথপাড়া ও কুলুপড়ায় ১০০ টিরও বেশি বাড়িঘর জ্বালিয়ে দেওয়া ও মুক্তিপণ। [৮]
  • ফুলঝুরিতে একজনকে হত্যা করা, লুটপাটের আগে ৩৬০ টি বাড়িতে আগুন ধরিয়ে দেয়া।
  • পিরোজপুরের নোলি গ্রামে ১১ জনকে হত্যা, সেখানে 6০ টি বাড়িতে লুটপাট ও আগুন ধরিয়ে দেওয়া।
  • ফুলঝুরিতে ২০০ হিন্দুকে জোর করে ধর্মান্তরিত করা। [৯]
  • আঙ্গুলকাটা ও মঠবাড়িয়া থেকে ৩৭ জনকে আটক করে, তাদের মধ্যে ২২ জন নিহত এবং গুরুতর আহত হয়। [১০]

মে ২০১৪ সালে জব্বারের বিরুদ্ধে গ্রেপ্তারি পরোয়ানা জারি করা হয়েছিল। [১১] তদন্তকারীদের মতে, তিনি এখন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে বসবাস করছেন।[১০]

মৃত্যু

এম এ জব্বার ১৮ আগস্ট ২০২০ আমেরিকার ফ্লোরিডায় মৃত্যুবরণ করেন।[১২]
