রাজাকার (رضا کار) হলো ব্যুৎপত্তিগতভাবে একটি আরবি শব্দ যার শাব্দিক অর্থ হল সেচ্ছাসেবী। এটি একটি ধার করা শব্দ হিসেবে উর্দু ভাষায় এসেছে। বাংলাদেশে, রাজাকার একটি অপমানজনক শব্দ, যার অর্থ বিশ্বাসঘাতক বা প্রতারক।

রাজাকাররা ছিল পূর্ব পাকিস্তানি আধা সামরিক বাহিনী যারা বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় পাকিস্তানি সেনাবাহিনীকে মুক্তিবাহিনীর বিরুদ্ধে সাহায্য করতো।[১]

পুলিশ কওমি রাজাকার হল পাকিস্তানের একটি সেচ্ছাসেবী বাহিনী যা পুলিশকে তাদের কাজের সময় সাহায্য করে থাকে।[২][৩]

হায়দ্রাবাদে, রাজাকাররা হল হায়দ্রাবাদের নিজাম প্রদেশ কর্তৃক ভারতের সাথে সংযোগসাধনের বিরোধিতা করার জন্য নিয়োগপ্রাপ্ত সেচ্ছাসেবী।[৪]

বাংলাদেশে

বাংলা ভাষায়, রাজাকার হল একটি স্থানীয় গালি যা প্রধানত দেশদ্রোহী অর্থাৎ যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের দেওয়া হয়ে থাকে। বাংলাদেশে এই অপমানজনক পরিভাষাটি পশ্চিমা পরিভাষা "জুডাস" দেশদ্রোহীর সমার্থক।[৫] শব্দটি ১৯৭১ সালের পূর্ব পাকিস্তানি আধাসামরিক বাহিনী "রাজাকার" থেকে এসেছে। ২০২৪ সালের কোটা আন্দোলনে সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা রাজাকার শব্দটি ব্যবহার করে যেটার কারণে আন্দোলনটা এক পর্যায়ে সরকার বিরোধী আন্দোলন কিংবা গণঅভ্যুত্থানে পরিণত হয়।
