Фрэнсіс Бэкан (англ.: Francis Bacon; 22 студзеня 1561 — 9 красавіка 1626) — англійскі філосаф, крэацыяніст, гісторык, палітычны дзеяч, заснавальнік эмпірызму.

Біяграфія

У 1584 годзе выбраны ў парламент. З 1617 года лорд-захавальнік пячаткі, затым — лорд-канцлер; барон Веруламскі і віконт Сент-Олбанскі. У 1621 годзе асуджаны па абвінавачанні ў хабарніцтве і адхілены ад усіх пасад. Пазней быў памілаваны каралём, але не вярнуўся на дзяржаўную службу. Апошнія гады жыцця прысвяціў навуковай і літаратурнай працы. Вынаходнік шыфру, які назвалі яго імем.
