Ста́ршы лейтэна́нт[1] (фр.: lieu tenant — намеснік, ад lieu — месца і tenant — займае) — воінскае званне малодшага афіцэрскага саставу ва ўзброеных сілах і сілавых структурах шэрагу дзяржаў, уключаючы Рэспубліку Беларусь.

У арміі Вялікага Княства Літоўскага адпавядала званню «паручнік». У Расійскай імперыі званне існавала толькі на флоце ў 1907—1917[1] гадах. У СССР было ўведзена ў 1935 годзе і адпавядала званню «палітрук». Ва ўзброеных сілах Рэспублікі Беларусь надаецца лейтэнантам пры адпаведнасці службовай катэгорыі, па заканчэнні вызначанага тэрміну выслугі ў папярэднім званні і інш.
