Of them (as of 2000), 52,721 (60.3%) are White non Hispanic, 6,402 (7.3%) are African-American, 7,228 (8.3%) Asian or Pacific Islander, 166 (0.2%) American Indian or Native Alaskan, 429 (0.5%) of some other race, 2,305 (2.6%) of two or more race, 18,228 (20.8%) of Hispanic origins. 19.3% of the population benefit from public assistance as of 2009, up from 14.7 in 2000.[5]
