Tari Mesekat

Mesekat salah satu tarian dari suku Alas di Aceh Tenggara, merupakan tarian yang dibawakan oleh anak-anak sampai orang dewasa secara berkelompok dengan posisi berbaris, sepertinya halnya orang salat saat membaca tahayatul akhir. Dalam tarian biasanya yang dipilih menjadi imam adalah kadi atau she yang nantinya menjadi panutan dalam gerak dan syair yang dibacakan secara serentak dan serasi dan dilaksanakan dengan irama shalawat dan qasidah.

Tari mesekat melahirkan suatu karya seni yang sifatnya klasik tradisional, cara membawakannya harus dengan menghafal dari berbagai ragam atau dengan cara berurutan. Dalam permainanya peserta memakai baju adat dengan jumlah pemain minimal 18 orang. Dalam syairnya dapat diartikan sebagai himbauan kepada masyarakat atau pemerintah desa, camat, bupati tentang hal-hal pembangunan.
