Messier 110 (dikenal sebagai Bintang Muda Edward dan NGC 205) ialah galaksi katai elips yang merupakan satelit dari Galaksi Andromeda.[4] M110 berisi beberapa debu dan petunjuk tentang pembentukan bintang baru-baru ini, yang tidak biasa untuk galaksi elips kerdil pada umumnya.[4]

Sejarah

Meskipun Charles Messier tidak pernah mencakup galaksi dalam daftarnya, digambarkan oleh dia, bersama-sama dengan M32, pada gambar dari galaksi Andromeda; label pada gambar menunjukkan bahwa Messier pertama kali mengamati NGC 205 pada tanggal 10 Agustus 1773.[5] Galaksi ini secara independen ditemukan oleh Caroline Herschel pada 27 Agustus 1783; kakaknya William Herschel menjelaskan penemuannya pada 1785.[5] Saran untuk menetapkan nomor galaksi Messier dibuat oleh Kenneth Glyn Jones pada tahun 1967.[6]

Pada tahun 1999, Johnson dan Modjaz menemukan nova di M110.[7] Tidak seperti M32, NGC205 tidak menunjukkan bukti adanya lubang hitam supermasif di pusatnya.[8]
