Kali Medono[a] adalah sebuah sungai yang mengalir di Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Sungai ini berhulu di Pegunungan Serayu Selatan di Kabupaten Wonosobo dan bermuara di Samudra Hindia di perbatasan antara Kabupaten Kebumen dan Kabupaten Purworejo. Di hilir Waduk Wadaslintang, sungai ini dikenal sebagai Sungai Bedegolan, dan di Prembun, sungai ini dikenal sebagai Sungai Gentan, sementara di hilirnya hingga di muara, sungai ini dikenal sebagai Sungai Wawar.

Daerah Aliran Sungai

Sungai Medono memiliki panjang sekira 62 Km mengalir dari utara ke selatan. Sungai Medono bermula dari Pegunungan Serayu Selatan tepatnya di Gunung Gelap (900 Mdpl) di Desa Karangsambung, Kabupaten Wonosobo lalu melintasi Kabupaten Kebumen, Kabupaten Purworejo dan berakhir di Samudra Hindia. Sungai Medono masuk dalam daerah aliran sungai (DAS) Wawar yang memiliki luas sekira 765 km2. Sungai Medono memiliki anak sungai besar antara lain:

  2. Sungai Benawi
  3. Sungai Kedungtumpeng
  4. Sungai Wadas
  5. Sungai Tritis
  6. Sungai Lancar
  7. Sungai Lesung
  8. Sungai Gebang
  9. Sungai Bedono
  10. Sungai Pucangan

Pemanfaatan

Penduduk di sepanjang Sungai Medono memanfaatkan untuk perairan/irigasi serta sumberdaya perikanan baik secara tradisional dengan cara memancing atau menjala, atau dengan membudidayakan ikan dalam keramba jaring apung di waduk dan bendungan. Karena banyaknya debit air yang dialirkan oleh sungai ini, maka dibangun sebuah dua waduk waduk (danau buatan) diantaranya Waduk Wadaslintang serta Waduk Pejengkolan. Kedua waduk ini digunakan untuk Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air (PLTA) dan juga untuk irigasi persawahan. Di sepanjang aliran Sungai Medono juga terdapat beberapa bendung seperti Bendung Bedegolan.
