Daftar Swadesh

Daftar Swadesh adalah kompilasi klasik konsep dasar untuk tujuan linguistik historis-komparatif. Daftar itu pertama kali dibuat oleh ahli linguistik Morris Swadesh pada tahun 1950 dengan 225 kata yang, setelah beberapa kali diubah, difinalkan pada tahun 1971 dengan 100 kata. Penerjemahan daftar itu ke dalam serangkaian bahasa memungkinkan peneliti untuk menguatifikasi hubungan antara berbagai bahasa. Daftar Swadesh digunakan dalam leksikostatistik (penilaian kuantitatif hubungan silsilah bahasa) dan glotokronologi (hubungan kronologis antarbahasa).
