Anton Kurnia


Anton Kurnia (lahir 9 Agustus 1974) adalah sastrawan Indonesia. Pendidikan formalnya antara lain dilalui di jurusan Teknik Geologi ITB dan Ilmu Jurnalistik IAIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. Ia juga bekerja di dunia penerbitan sebagai penerjemah dan editor. Pernah lama berkarier di penerbit Serambi, Jakarta, dengan jabatan terakhir manajer redaksi, kini ia mendirikan dan memimpin penerbit Baca.[1][2][3]

Karya-karyanya, berupa cerpen, esai, dan terjemahan karya sastra, dimuat oleh berbagai koran, majalah, dan jurnal, termasuk majalah sastra Horison, Jurnal Cerpen Indonesia, Kompas, Tempo, Koran Tempo, Media Indonesia, Republika, Pikiran Rakyat, Jawa Pos, The Jakarta Post, dan Asia Literary Review.[4] Ia juga menjadi kolumnis untuk sejumlah media, antara lain Deutsche Welle Indonesia.[5]

Sejumlah cerpennya telah diterjemahkan ke bahasa Inggris, antara lain dipublikasikan dalam antologi Menagerie 5 (editor John H. McGlynn—Lontar Foundation, 2003) dan Compassion and Solidarity (UWRF, 2009).[6]

Ia diundang mengikuti sejumlah acara dan festival sastra, antara lain Temu Sastrawan Nusantara (2009), Ubud Writers and Readers Festival (2009), dan ASEAN Literary Festival (2016).[7]

Sejumlah karyanya mendapat penghargaan. Cerpennya, "Zenilda Belum Pulang", menjadi salah satu pemenang dalam sayembara cerpen tentang kekerasan terhadap perempuan (2000). Esainya, "Dari Dunia Tanpa Ingatan ke Matahari Kesadaran", menjadi pemenang kedua dalam sayembara esai tentang rekonsiliasi nasional terkait pemutaran film Puisi Tak Terkuburkan karya Garin Nugroho (2000). Cerpen "Cinta Semanis Racun" terpilih sebagai salah satu cerpen terbaik sepanjang masa majalah Esquire Indonesia dan diterbitkan dalam antologi Semua Orang Pandai Mencuri (2015).[8]
