安加白令嘉市為南澳州最大的地方政府區域，城鄉人口合計超過十七萬，面積達518.4平方公里。市名「安加白令嘉」取自附近的安加白令嘉河（英语：Onkaparinga River），而河名則源自加雲拿語（英语：Kaurna language）字詞Ngangkiparinga，意即女人之河。市政局總部設於諾阿倫加中心（英语：Noarlunga Centre, South Australia），地區辦公室則分設於雅伯科奧柏（英语：Aberfoyle Park, South Australia）、活歌富（英语：Woodcroft, South Australia）及威隆嘉（英语：Willunga, South Australia）。

歷史

安加白令嘉市的前身為快活谷、諾阿倫加及威隆嘉市（City of Happy Valley, Noarlunga and Willunga），於1997年7月1日由快活谷市（英语：City of Happy Valley）、諾阿倫加市（英语：City of Noarlunga）及威隆嘉區議會（英语：District Council of Willunga）的一部分合併而成。[7]1997年12月22日，市名改為現時名稱。[8]

市政局

安加白令嘉市政局（英語：City of Onkaparinga Council）是安加白令嘉市的市政機關。市內分為六個選區（英語：Ward），每選區有兩位議員，市長則由直選產生。目前連同市長在內共有十三位議員，任期由2018年至2022年。[12]

市政局成員定期於諾阿隆加中心的市政局總部進行會議，每三個星期二舉行一次。
