Kız Kulesi veya Laskaris Sarayı,[1] İzmir'in Kemalpaşa ilçesinde yer alan özgün bir Bizans yazlık sarayıdır.

Tarihçe

İmparator I. Theodoros Laskaris (1206-1222) zamanında yapılmıştır.[2] Burası İstanbul dışında inşa edilmiş bir imparatorluk sarayı olması bakımından çok önemlidir. Selçuklu Hanedanı ve Beylikler döneminde de Türkler tarafından kullanıldığı bilinmektedir. Aralık 2011'de yapıda restorasyon çalışmaları başlatıldı.[3]

Mimari

Sarayın planı İstanbul'daki tekfur sarayına benzemektedir. Yapı 11,50 × 25,50 m boyutlarında kuzey güney yönünde uzunlamasına dikdörtgen planlıdır. Zemin katı dış yüzeyleri hafifçe yuvarlatılmış büyük kesme taşlardan meydana gelmiştir. Zemin katta içeride dördü doğu duvarında diğer dördü batı duvarında olmak üzere sekiz adet paye vardır. Buradaki pencerelerin dar ve ince uzun oluşu ise korunmak amaçlıdır. Zemin katı, diğer üç katın molozları ile doldurulmuştur. Birinci ve ikinci katın cepheleri ayakta kalmış üst kat ve çatıdan ise hiçbir iz kalmamıştır. Duvarda görülen ahşap kirişler, bu katların tabanlarının ahşap olduğunu gösterir. Zemin katın doğu cephesinde büyük kesme taşlardan masif bir görünüşe sahip 2,50 m genişliğinde tam ortada giriş kapısı vardır. Zemin kat dikdörtgen bloklar hâlindeki yontma taştan, devşirme malzemeden inşa edilmiştir. Bu taş bloklar arasında harç kullanılmamıştır. Üst katlar ise dört sıra tuğla, bir sıra taş dizisinin üst üste konulması ile meydana gelmiştir.
